Topic

We all get rid of used clothing, usually by donating to Goodwill or the Salvation Army. But did you ever wonder what happens to all those clothes? The fate of many items would shock you.

Purpose

Convince people to not throw out as much clothing, be better shoppers, buy fewer - better made items that last longer, that can be recycled in the long run, and know the best ways to dispose of old clothes properly.

Audience

Any consumer, but especially millennial women who buy from fast fashion brands. Anyone who cares about the effects of our consumer-driven economy on the environment and people in less affluent countries.

"The average American throws away 70 pounds of clothing every year, which is roughly the equivalent of 191 T-shirts per person”

"The U.S. is the largest exporter of second hand clothing. It exports over a billion pounds of used clothing every year”

"Only 15% of used clothing in the United States gets recycled or donated, the rest goes into landfills”
